**ONE PLACE LEFT**

Orientation Sunday, May 6th, 4:30pm – 5:30pm

Monday, May 7th – Wednesday, May 9th, 3:00pm – 12:00am. Thursday, May 10th 9:00am – 11:00am

The nocturnal illumination in Todd Hido’s work has been a staple in his images. He is known to be a master of nuancing dark light and creating a cinematic narrative. In this workshop Todd will share his techniques and his methods as well as discuss his sources and influences. He has a generous teaching method that often propels students, even seasoned professionals back into their work with a new sense of purpose.

Night light, weather phenomena, and differing temperatures of electric illumination lend an eerie quality to Todd Hido’s unique landscape photographs. The course will cover the experiences, strategies, and influences that form and shape his work. He will candidly present his own work and provide his answers to the elusive questions all photographers ask themselves: Where does my work come from? What does it say? How can I express myself more effectively? What does it mean—and how important is that? The friendly review of student portfolios will follow, and each student will receive personalized feedback and tasks for improvement.

Day One: Talk about work. Todd will present his recent work and review the work of the attendees.Todd will join attendees as it makes its first excursion to photograph in the Salton Sea and Indio areas.

After dinner, between 9 and midnight, Todd will join attendees in the field as they discover interesting opportunities for twilight and night photography of the urban and desert landscape surrounding Palm Springs.
